While watching a Great Blue Heron fly across Mallard Lake, I noticed a large raptor perched above the water. The heron's passing flight must have distrubed the raptor because he abandoned his perch and flew above the water before finding a new perch. I identified the raptor as an Osprey, a new addition to the Lifelist and an amazing bird to see. Later in the hike I would see him fly over one of the oxbow lakes south of the North Woods trail, this time with a fish in his talons!
